Why stay on Quadra Island before your tour

Quadra Island accommodations, recreation, dining, the arts and more........

Our home on Quadra Island

Quadra Island is our home. We live and work here year round. We moved here 8 years ago, drawn by the mountain views, the beautiful ocean, wonderful people, and abundance of recreational opportunities. Christine and I could never think of living else where.

We invite you to Quadra Island and enjoy a little bit of our paradise. Most people who come to Quadra Island to start the sea kayaking adventure often wish they had more time before and after there kayak trip to stay on Quadra Island. Please, if you have the time, stay for a while, you won't regret it.

Sea kayaking day tours

When you come to Quadra Island, you must take a day, half day or even a sunset sea kayaking tour. Our sea kayaking day tours leave every day from Quadra Island and take us to some of the best sea kayaking destinations on the coast. If you are heading off on one of our multi-day tours and want a sea kayak refresher, or some basic lessons, then book a tour for the day before. It is really a must do on Quadra Island. Come sea kayak Quadra Island.

Boat tours

Another fun thing to do is join in one of our boat tours off the East Coast of Quadra Island. This is a great way to meet some folks and do a little bit of wining and dining while cruising the Quadra Shoreline.

Quadra Island Accommodations

If you do stay, check out a few of our favorite places to stay. Our Quadra Island Accommodations page lists some great choices. The East side of the Island is where we launch our days tours. This is the more scenic side with great mountain views, quiet beaches and world famous Rebecca Spit provincial park. Check out Susan's B and B the Harbour House or try one of her vacation rentals. Another favorite is Taku Resort, a very private location right next to our office. We use their dock for launching our day tours. If you want peace and quiet and probably the best rooms on the Island, then this is a great pick for you. Another place with uncomparable ambiance is Tsa-Kwa-Luten lodge. This lodge is one of the finest resorts in B.C. with a first nations flavour, fine dining and a calming atmosphere. If you have any special accommodation wishes give us a call and we probably have a suggestion for you. 1 800 307 3982.

Quadra Island Activities

While here on Quadra Island there are lots of wonderful ways to spend your time. Check out our things to do on Quadra Island page for more details. The best place on the Island to get any kind of information is Quadra Island Tours call them at 1 250 285 3627. They are the Island experts on any type of recreation. Quadra Island is full of awesome hikes, a must being the Chinese Mountain hike. Chinese Mountain will bring you to one of the best view points on all of Quadra Island. A great place to look down at the Discovery Islands and the Coast Mountains. Another favorite is the Kay Duboise trail. A scenic walk along the oceans edge. A trip around Morte Lake is a great way to spend a good part of the day. This can be done by both walking or Mountain Biking. The mountain biking is tough so you do need a strong bike and a fair amount of skill. There is a good map on the Quadra Island web site mountain biking page.

Quadra Island Dining

Dining on Quadra Island is always good. The summer comes to life with some of the finest eating places on the coast. Tsa-kwa-Luten-Lodge on the South end of Quadra Island has become my favorite for sea food and the first nations architecture and views are outstanding. Equally as good is April Point Lodge the style is classy but you some how can still feel comfortable if T-shirt and jeans. For something a little more local, try the two pubs on either end of Quadra Island. The Landing Pub next to the Campbell River Ferry, And the Heriot Bay inn next to the Cortez Ferry. The Heriot Bay in has great evening dining, good pub grub and music on many of the nights.

Talking about Music, the hot spot as of late is the Heriot Bay Inn. Live Music almost every night of the week. Be prepared to dance to some of the best shows on the North Island.

Quadra Island arts

It is always worth mentioning the arts scene on Quadra Island. It is big. For a complete list of Quadra Island Art studios, have a look at our Quadra Island Arts page.

If you have any questions about Quadra Island, please call any time. I would be happy to give you my personal advice on where to stay and what to do.

We look forward to hosting you on beautiful Quadra Island.
