How's this for a shower!

A hot shower after a day of kayaking is a great experience. Your own private spot tucked in the rainforest with a view of the ocean that is to die for.

Have you ever watched passing dolphins from a shower before?

The design for the shower was borrowed from an african safari camp Christine and John stayed at while cycling through Africa.

Simply fill the bucket with our heated water, hoist into the air, then open the tap. Two buckets full gives you a nice long shower. This may be the best shower you'll ever have.

The outhouse is also constructed of beautiful red cedar driftwood that was found on the beaches of Quadra Island, and cut into lumber by a local saw mill.

There is not much difference from this seat than the one you have at home except that once again you will have an outstanding view of the ocean.

This is the dish wash area. As you can see, the camp has a kind of Gilligans Island feel to. Everything is built from findings on the beach and constructed into extreemly practical features.

The small stones used to level the ground were brought up from a nearby beach. The stones keep the ground free of mud making it easy to get around on, even if it was to rain.

There is no questions that the view from our camp is one of the most stunning views anywhere. We are looking across at Robson Bight Michael Biggs Ecological Reserve and into the ancient forest reserve of the Tsitika Valley. This is a protected place off limits to humans.

Our camp gathering area is extremely well protected from the elements. If the weather turns foul you'll be glad you are at the Spirit of the West Camp. Just get the fire going, cuddle up to a warm cup of hot chocolate, and marvel at the beautiful surroundings.
