kayaking with killer whales - Day 4
Our view was gone. In its place was a vast, white wall. At first it appeared an intrusion, but on second thought, it held a great beauty of its own. Hanging from every twig it obscured all but the nearest objects, back-dropping them with white and giving a new dimension to our surroundings. Sea fog, being a common phenomenon for the Johnston Strait area, rolls in off the open ocean with the cooling of the night, blanketing the coastline with a layer of white down, only to be burned off by the next day's heat. By the time we had packed our personal belongings, ate our last breakfast and readied ourselves for our last paddle, the sun had already pushed some golden fingers through the shifting mist, striking individual trees and rocks.
