| Johnstone Strait Expedition:
6 day kayak tour |
 |
Kayak camping in Johnstone Strait provides us with some beautiful
settings. On our Johnstone Strait Expedition we have the opportunity
to travel to different sites, maximizing sunrise and sunsets,
by the best possible means: a kayak!
|
 |
Exploring the Johnstone Strait by kayak is one of the most peaceful
ways to view the area. Pulling the kayaks onto shore for lunch
breaks, makes for some fruitful exploring opportunities, and makes
lunch taste twice as delicious.
|
 |
You never know what you're going to find exploring the inside
coast. Paddling through sea kelp beds, and feeling the kelp slide
along the bottom of your kayak is an extraordinary feeling.
|
 |
The creatures of the Pacific Ocean, on the east coast of Vancouver
Island will keep you fascinated. Kayaking is an excellent way
to discover the ecology of the Johnstone Strait.

It's a thrilling moment to be in the presence of an Orca...and
an approaching Orca at that! You will be thoroughly impressed
by that feeling that comes with seeing a Killer Whale in the wild.
|
 |
We try to give the Orca Whales a wide birth so as not to interupt
their natural behavior. In a situation like this, the Orca chose
to alter coarse in our direction. A thrill of a life time providing
it is on the whales terms.

 |
This is a fun-loving Pacific White sided Dolphin. These playful
mammals have travelled in groups of up to 400 in Johnstone Strait,
and have popped up beside our water taxi as we headed into our
basecamp.
