The Rugged Outer Coast- in comfort

This is coastal British Columbia at its finest! Our base camp accommodations on remote Spring Island are ideally situated for some of Canada's most spectacular west coast kayaking.

This stunning area has paddling options for novice to expert paddlers, families, groups, couples, and independent travelers.

Remote Base Camp Like No Other

Our base camp is located on Spring Island, a jewel of the west coast, and the largest of an offshore chain of islands and reefs (the Barrier Islands), at the mouth of Kyuquot Sound. Here, nestled on the edge of a rainforest drenched with moss-covered boughs, you will luxuriate in unexpected outdoor comforts.

West Coast Kayaking comfort

Our facilities allow you to stay warm, dry, clean, comfortable, and connected with the west coast ecology and kayaking opportunities that you came to enjoy. As much as possible, our base camp blends with the natural surroundings, while still providing conveniences such as a propane heated shower, a resource library, and dining shelter that is cozy and fully protected from inclement weather.

The Kayaking

Our daily kayak trips introduce you to this home of the fascinating sea otter and the traditional territory of the Ka:'yu:'k't'h' (Kyuquot) First Nations people. Whether new to kayaking or a seasoned paddler, the options are plentiful. Most of our guests return - often several times - eagerly anticipating the diverse kayak day-tripping destinations from our ideally situated base camp on Spring Island.

The Kayaks

We use a mixed fleet of single and double kayaks to access serene and spectacular beaches, estuaries, islets, sea otter viewing opportunities, tide pools, geologic curiosities, dramatic shorelines, and enchanting old-growth forest walks.

Our Food

Enjoy and share our passion for good food! A balanced and healthy diet is essential to maintaining energy and enjoyment on an adventure trip. “Fresh and Delicious” is our food motto, and we pull inspiration from all corners of the globe to appeal to diverse palettes. We are blessed to operate in an area of natural abundance and locally sourced fish and seafood are incorporated into our meals whenever possible. Our garden on Spring Island provides us with fresh herbs and produce throughout the summer.

At the end of each day, you're likely to feel the wonderful sensation of having experienced something special without having been too rushed to enjoy the moment.

Family Kayaking Adventure

For our Outer Coast Base Camp Tours, our location, facilities, and range of activities are enjoyed by all ages, including families with kids younger than 12.
